A Swiss ski resort has taken a modern prefab approach to providing private chalet rooms for their guests. The WhitePod Alpine Ski Resort comprises 15 geodesic igloo-style structures that overlook a Swiss valley from the snowy mountain above. Each private “cabin” features a king-sized bed, a wood-burning fireplace, a raised floor and comfortable lodge-style furnishings. A large window provides a sweeping view of the valley below, and a nearby common building provides entertainment, food and drink for WhitePod guests. These WhitePods are a low-cost way for this resort to provide an exciting and private experience to snow-bound travelers in Switzerland, a design-friendly way of enjoying the cool Swiss environment.
